Dear mother and father,

I’ve seen many things I wish I
haven’t. The war has been very cruel and
I’m lucky that none of my friends have died.
I am in the third battalion with a lot of Aussies. I have a few friends such as Jimmy, Stan and
Ben. I have got to go now, I’ll try to
write to you again, bie.
